News coming in about Microsoft not willing to abandon the XBOX 360 even though the XBOX ONE is slated to hit stores this fall.
Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi says about the five year plan, "That's something we're shooting for, it's not a financial plan as such, it's just rough numbers if you will, To sell another 25 million, half of those will probably come from replacements, but half will come from new buyers."
That leaves me to wonder how much developers will support the XBOX 360 once the new console is released. If the devs continue to release games for it, I could see the XBOX 360 lasting quite a while into the future, but a lack of support from devs could cause it to flicker out.

Sony hit a good margin of success with this same business model after the PS3 came out. I don't see why this couldn't work again. Of course like it states: will publishers and Developers want to continue making two versions of games or at least last gen games when everyone is excited about the new generation?
