I've been watching and reading a lot of opinions on the Microsoft policy change for Xbox One and I don't understand all the hate. "Everyone" was mad about the One and it's "DRM" and always online (AO) policies. So they changed it. It was nothing different from the PlayStation launch debacle and the hack. Stupid stuff happens and it was a pity that Sony had to deal with that stuff. And this hurt Sony and it's sales numbers reflected that.
What I don't get is why it's the new norm for consumers of the gaming biz to dictate everything publishers (Bio Ware) and console (All of them) creators have planned for games and consoles. It seemed to me (and I'm not taking anything away from the amazing PS4) that Microsoft really wanted to change the way we could game and share games and use our consoles. I do think that they should have offered a service of the machine that would not require internet connections. But that would be costly and no company in America makes a product to not make money. This is really neither here no there anymore considering it changed.
Another thing is all the people I knew who were XB fans were down with this policy. I think what happened are Sony or Nintendo fans shot a bunch of flak at Microsoft and they changed their opinion over that. I know the real reason was because of low pre-order sales but I can't help but think it was the former and not the latter. Why does a fan of a different system have an opinion on the one they weren't going to get in the first place? Why is everyone still mad if Microsoft change policy? I heard a guy on youtube call out all gamers that were okay with original Xbox One policies. He said they weren't real gamers. Whatever.
All I want to know is why everyone is still mad after they got their way?
Happy gaming my friends!
I know this is a little older of a post. But I'm gonna chime in with my opinion. I am upset with MS and the gaming industry. I know it is always about money bu upsets me that companies change their product they have/had worked for years! I noticed you mentioned Bioware. Great example, them adding/changing their game end was ridiculous. They should of never changed it. When they started writing that story, they were trying to tell a story. That's like a JK Rowling coming out with a new 200 pages to change Harry Potter because fans didn't like the ending. Ahhhh...okay sorry back to the topic. I work at a video game store and when the internet trolls come out of their caves and try to troll me in real life about the Xbox One and its "stupid policies" I started this conversation with them:
ReplyDeleteMe: Do you have a 360?
Troll: yes I do
Me: Are you and XBL gold member?
Troll: yes I am
Me: So is your 360 connected online?
Troll: Yep
Me: So when you turn on 360, is there any point when your just like "Nah, not today".
Troll: ummm, No that is stupid.
Me: So you have an always online console already! So what's the problem?
Troll: *leaves store*
Hope you enjoyed this. I was totally okay with the
The original AO policies. MS didn't communicate its policies very well. But like I said earlier, its always about money. I will enjoy both consoles(X1 & PS4) this new generation. But now I feel I am getting a Xbox 360 1.5 version.
I agree!
